Anything for her daddy !

Sarah's Story Sarah was the start of the actual Pets-Haven Animal Rescue; although, it didn't have a name for many years. About 20 years ago, I received a phone call from a friend who worked at an animal shelter in Springdale Arkansas, to please come and look at a cat that she needed to euthanize, nobody wanted her. She knew that my Blacky had passed away after a long stay at the veterinarian. Blacky had Feline Leukemia since he was a kitten and after 6 years it became too much for him. I didn't think I was ready for another cat yet but went to look at her any way. There she was, cowered into the back corner of her cage, eyes huge with fear. My friend took her out of the cage and told me her history. She was about 1 1/2 years old, a solid black shorthair. She had recently been spayed and unfortunately also declawed. At first when she arrived at the shelter she starved herself, until my friend contacted her former owner to find out what she had been fed. It was Fancy Feast, which she would eat for the rest of her life with the exception of occasional treats. Of course I took her home. Sarah, that already was her name, was very shy at first. For two days she stayed under my bed, but when she finally did come out, she jumped straight on top and claimed her place on my pillow, where she slept for the rest of her life. She was to be my closest companion to travel and move with everywhere. Sarah was also guilty of getting me married, but I forgive her; it seems she knew what she was doing. All her life she was her daddy's undisputed favorite. When we finally had to let her go, her liver was failing. May Sarah rest in peace and live forever in our hearts and memories.
