Memories
of our friends
who
have gone over the Rainbow bridge.

In Memory of Sarah
Sarah was our most senior feline resident and undisputed head of the household for over
19 years. Sarah had been rescued from an animal shelter in
Springdale, NW
Arkansas.
Do not stand at my
grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die.

Snow was a gorgeous white Shar Pei mix.
A sweet and intelligent girl. She ran into the street when a gate
was left open and was hit by a car. She was only a teenager, she
never got to grow up. |
 |
Daisy
our a beautiful Staffordshire
Bull Terrier puppy. Here she enjoys the winter sun. She was a very
brave little girl whom we finally had to let go after long and repeated illness.
We miss her desperately. |
|
Alberta was as a feral kitten who had a
rough start. She remained very skittish and was impossible to
medicate. When she was diagnosed with cancer, we could only
make her as comfortable as possible and treat her with homeopathic
remedies that could be put into her drinking water. But in the
end she quit eating there was too much pain. |
 |
Honey was left behind when her family moved
away. She was pregnant and so totally confused that she had
started eating her own kittens. She
developed diabetes and lived with that for only about 5 more years. |
 |
James and Redski
were very good friends. James (left) had been adopted from a Seattle
non-kill shelter that was fighting a very bad virus outbreak.
He was to become our oldest ever resident at 23 years, when he died
of Thyroid cancer. Redski was abandoned when his owner was put
into a nursing home. He was diabetic and only outlived James by 2
years. |
 |
Grey was a gorgeous Russian Blue and a real dog
fighter. His age was not known, he was with our rescue for 5
years. This picture was taken after he had been ill for some
time and doesn't do him justice at all. Grey also had thyroid
cancer, he was very thin in the end; even though, he always tried to
eat. |
 |
Pips only lived a short life. He always
liked to get into trouble in true kitten fashion. But one day
he managed to get out of his outdoor area and was killed by a dog.
He was only 7 month old. |
 |
Mouser went to the Rainbow Bridge. The cancer
had attacked his insides to the point where it was not operable any
more.
This special boy will have his forever home in our hearts and
memories. |
 |
Lucky was a very sweet and
affectionate boy. he went to bridge too early. He
was only 8 years old and should have lived at least 10 more years
but Leukemia is a tough illness. |
 |
Here Katie is enjoying a little
Fall sunshine. Katie lived to be 13 years old and died very
suddenly of Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Loosing her so
suddenly was very hard on us but for Katie it was so much better
than the long suffering with cancer. The day before she left
us she still had fun playing in the yard and chasing squirrels. |
 |
Magnolia came to Pets Haven during
a snowstorm about 12 years ago. She liked our outside play
area best and would role in the leaves in fall. We don't know
what took Maggie so suddenly. We think she may have had heart
failure. |
