Magnolia's Story

Maggie was found wandering in a shopping mall in the middle of winter.  It was freezing cold and snowing.  Her meowing attracted the attention of a store clerk and we heard him talk about the "poor thing", when we came to the cash register.  We went outside to look for her and at first couldn't find her.  There was a loud meowing but no cat.   Finally we spotted some movement between some of the cars, she was a white kitten lost in white snow.  She was shaking horribly when we picked her up. Once in the warmth of the car she calmed down and snuggled into a blanket on the back seat. The store clerk didn’t know where she might belong, but agreed to put a poster up in the store, so did all the other stores in the shopping center. Since it was evening, we didn’t get to inform the local shelter and veterinarians of our find until the next day. Nobody came forward to claim her. We were puzzled, because Maggie was well nourished, had no winter coat and was very clean when we found her. She must have been an indoor cat. We checked all the surrounding neighborhoods and put more posters out, but had no success. Maggie was very shy, when she first stayed with us she hid in the bathroom and wouldn’t come out. She was very afraid of the other cats. Maggie has one blue and one yellow eye and has a scar in one ear. She is 10 years old now and still with us. She likes people once she warms up to them and loves sitting on laps but wished there weren’t any other lap sitters and pet grabbers.  She is one of our permanent fur kids who never found another home.
