Junior' s Story

Junior is one of our special little boys. He was born here at Pets-Haven to a very young mother as one of two kittens. His sister was a strong and healthy girl, who went to a very nice home. As a newborn, Junior, could not hold himself up to nurse. His back legs were not supporting him. Junior was weak and his mom would not clean him. We dried him and carefully rubbed him warm. He had to be held up to his mother’s nipple so he good nurse. He was very hungry and sucked greedily but as soon as we let go of him, he slid back down away from the nipple and meowed pitifully. After two days and nights he finally gained enough strength to hold himself up for a short period of time. We still helped him several times a day to ensure that he drank enough. We could never find out what was really wrong with him; but to this day, he stiffly moves each of his back legs in robot fashion. Junior is now 4 years old and has grown into a big strong tom. Although, he gets around well, he doesn’t have the grace that cats are usually known for. But his little handicap has never kept him out of mischief and he is very affectionate.
