June, a
Heartbreaking Story
with a Happy Ending.
June at former owner
Here's her former owner's story...
She wandered
up in my yard in June of 2001. I named her June. She was beaten and
neglected. The vet estimated her to be about 2, maybe. She is a very
good dog. A bit scared of men, but will come around. Last December, I
was forced to move. June stayed up on the hill at the neighbor
lady's house when I wasn't home. She fed them, and they kept her
company. So, when I left, I let her have them. Thinking they would be
happier there, than in a small fenced in yard, here. I visited quite
often up until May. About 3 weeks ago, I decided to go over. June showed
up and was starved. I was furious, to say the least. I couldn't find
Shyla. I continued to go over each day, trying to find her and feed
them. When I was about to give up, I saw her. She also was starved,
and has a broken leg. I haven't been able to catch her. I did finally
bring June home last night. I bathed her, and she has stayed in the
house ever since. Not leaving my daughters side.
I can not keep her
because my two house dogs are dominant, and will not tolerate her being
around. June gets along fine with other dogs. But, if tested and pushed,
she will not tolerate it. Baby (my other dog) follows her around, just
asking for a fight. She's (Baby) a pain! I was so hoping things were
going to be different between them, but it's not. I am keeping her
in the house right now. She is housebroken.

June went to the local shelter. I met June in there and was
with her
when her former owner picked her back up on our request, she truly is a very sweet little dog
(about 40lbs) , who was devoted to her owner.

We couldn't place
June fast enough and her former owner turned her back out into the country.
There she was all on
her own, had no protection at all from anything and was not loved by
anybody. She only was brought some food, but if she actually got
most of that or if wild animals and other loose dogs ate it we did't
know. We also did't know where she had been turned loose.
Winter was approaching and we
frantically searched for a place for her to come to.
Then we got an e-mail asking
about June. The woman who asked if she could give June a home
turned out to be "the one". June decided she wanted to stay with
her when we went for our home visit. (below the day of her home
visit)

June is finally
loved and well taken care of.
