Welcome to our adoption Process.

You are only a few steps away from a wonderful new life companion!

10 Step Adoption Process: (For our Pre-Adoption Application scroll down) Please read this whole page carefully.

Please make sure you are willing and able to take on the responsibility of a new pet in your life. Get all family members involved in the decision making. When there is no doubt that you can provide a permanent, loving home to an animal in need, please e-mail us for more information.

The Pet Guardian's Vow

" I promise to be your best friend, to respect and support you, to be patient with you, to work together with you to achieve those things that are important to us, to accept you unconditionally, and to share my life with you until death do us part ! "

Our animals have no price tags, no amount would be high enough to "pay" for any living being.  Our Adoption fees are Donations for the animals in our care: the cost for  spaying/neutering, medical care, food and housing.

Our cost is usually much more than what we ask.  To help with our expenses we ask for a Donation    We offer 1 months free health insurance for your new friend through Petfinder.com.  Micro chipping is done here before the animal leaves.

     Our Process:

1. Read  " Am I ready" to avoid common mistakes.

2. Pick an animal from Our Cats or Our Dogs whom you would like to have in your family.

3. Then fill out our Pre-Adoption Application for Dogs

    or For Cats

4. You will hear from us within 1 to 3 days.

5. You will be interviewed in your own home.

6. The chosen animal will be allowed to visit during the interview if you are in close driving distance.

7. Then after final evaluation a contract is signed for the animal's and guardian's benefit.

8. When approved the animal will then be picked up or brought to his/her new guardians to stay.  If the animal objects or is uncomfortable in the new home the adoption will not take place.

9. The first 3 weeks are considered a trial period during which each party has the right to annul the contract.  During this period we expect the new guardians to stay in close contact with Pets Haven.

10. Of course we always love to hear from you, even years later.

Pets-Haven welcomes all new applicants, but also reserves the right to refuse any applicant.

Our Fees.  We unfortunately had to increase the adoption donation due to the ever increasing cost of spaying/neutering and transport gasoline . There is no profit in this for Pets Haven.  It doesn't come close to covering the cost we actually have, to get these guys ready for adoption.  Check with your veterinarian on the cost of spaying and neutering, vaccinating, heartworm test, Feline Leukemia/FIV test and micro-chipping.  Pets Haven has chosen to use the safer method of gas anesthesia instead of the irreversible method by injection for neutering and spaying.  This method is safer for the patient. Read about Anesthesia for pets.

Pets-Haven adoption process takes several days.  We do not adopt our animals out at big adoption get-togethers or fundraisers, we take applications. That way we can avoid impulsive decisions by kindhearted souls that just can't resist taking one of these  poor furry babies home; even though, they have neither the room nor the funds to take care of them. We do understand the well meaning motive but for the animals it just means another budding trust destroyed, another heart break.

Placement of animals through Pets Haven is considered a life time lease. We stay in contact with the new Guardians as long as the animal is in his/her care. The well being of our animals is our #1 priority, even after placement.

Pets-Haven's Adoption Contract is a binding document to both parties that sign and will stand up in court. It is for the protection of the animals for their entire future life.  We expect new guardians to make a life time commitment to their new friend and love them, like it is said during marriage vows.

"I will love and respect you for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, until death do us part."
